3) The Dirtbombs: Ultraglide in Black

Mick Collins second great band’s (how many people can you say that about) collection of rare to not-so-rare soul covers turned out to be a cohesive and fierce Rock and Roll album. I once heard Mick Collins say that “only black folks understood that this was not a R&B record, but a rock record. While maintaining a similar aesthetic in the production, the band also manages to deliver a collection of songs that all sound incredibly different in performance and style. Most bands can do one or the other but these guys can usually do both.
